A NOTE

Dear Friends:
Well this past week was “Family Week” for me. I hosted our 3rd Annual Permanian Family Reunion. It was great to see all of my mom’s family and extended family together to catch up, reminisce, share family stories and secrets with the younger generation and just plain old enjoy being together. My nephew from California was in and at the last minute my brother surprised us all and came in with him. In addition to the great time and great food we shared, it was a reminder of how important family really is and how often we take them for granted.
After recovering from the family reunion, I flew down to Orlando to perform my “niece’s” wedding. I grew up with her parents and I’ve been “Uncle Jerry” to her since she was able to speak. It was a nice reunion of old friends and family also. It was a great reminder of the importance of friends in our lives and how we need to make time in the busyness of our lives to connect with them.
We need events in our lives to gather us together – to celebrate life – to celebrate accomplishments and just to “be” with family and friends.
Next weekend we have that opportunity at Trifesta - a time to gather as a family with food, music, fun, and prayer. It is an opportunity to just “be” with our parish family and friends to put the cares of life behind us and just enjoy one another’s company. I hope you all plan on taking some time out to join us in the various festivities – 5K run/walk, golf outing, 3 on 3 basketball, GospelFest, Bingo, rides, games or just to share a meal with old or new friends. I will be out there the whole time serving as our Emcee. I consider this a great opportunity to meet many of you and have a chance to speak with you a little more than just a quick “hello” or “good-bye” before or after Mass. Let’s make Trifesta St. Isidore’s Family Reunion by coming together this Friday and Saturday.

Queridos Amigos:
Pues, para mí la semana pasada fue “Semana Familiar”. Fui el anfitrión de la 3ra Reunión Anual de la Familia Permanian. Fue muy bueno ver a toda la familia de mi mama y su familia extendida juntos para recordar el pasado, compartir historias y secretos familiares con la nueva generación y disfrutar los tiempos juntos. Mi sobrino de California estaba aquí y a ultimo minuto mi hermano vino con el. Más que un tiempo bueno, y comida buena que compartíamos, era un recuerdo de que tan importante es la familia y como muchas veces lo tomamos en vano.
Después de recuperarme de la reunión familiar, fui a Orlando para celebrar la boda de mi “sobrina.” Yo crecí con sus padres y yo he sido “Tío Jerry” para ella desde que empezó a hablar. Fue muy bonito reunirme con amigos y familia también. Recordé sobre la importancia de amigos en nuestra vida y como debemos tomar tiempo en nuestras vidas tan ocupados y conectarnos con ellos.
Necesitamos eventos en nuestras vidas para juntarnos – celebrar la vida, celebrar nuestros logros, y nada mas para “estar” con familia y amigos.
Este fin de semana que viene tenemos esta oportunidad en Trifesta – un tiempo de juntarnos como familia con comida, música, diversión, y oración. Es una oportunidad de nada mas “estar” con nuestra familia parroquial y amigos y poner las preocupaciones de la vida atrás de nosotros y disfrutar la compañía de cada uno. Espero que tengan planes de tomar tiempo y participar en las diversas actividades – 5K carrera, golf, 3 en 3 basquetbol, Fiesta de Música Cristiana, Bingo, juegos, o nada mas a compartir una comida con amigos antiguos o nuevos. Yo voy a estar allí todo el tiempo sirviendo como Monitor. Considero esta una oportunidad buena para conocerlos más a ustedes y platicar un poco más que un “hola” ó “adiós” antes o después de la Misa. Debemos hacer esta Trifesta la Reunión Familiar de San Isidro para juntarnos todos este Viernes y Sábado.
