Summer 2011 Minister Newsletter.

Dear Fellow Ministers,

I hope you and your family had a very happy and holy Lenten and Easter season. We are back in ordinary time in a few weeks, after we celebrate Pentecost. New minister training is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, August 20 in the Main Church. 9am for our new Eucharistic Ministers and 10am for our new Lectors. Watch the Bulletin for details. Send a friend or come yourself for a refresher course.

LECTORS:     Thank you to our 10am Ministers who were assigned to read in the Ministry Center for Palm Sunday and Easter. Your assistance is always appreciated.  We have received very positive comments about our lectors. The time that you take to prepare your reading prior to the weekend is evident and appreciated by those who listen to you proclaim the Word. Continue to do the fantastic job you’ve been doing!

ALTAR SERVERS:     Please sign in when you serve at Mass. Select the correct size robe so that you don’t trip on the edge or have it appear too short. Feel free to ask an adult for assistance if you’re not sure of size. Thanks to all our “veteran” servers who help guide our new servers. Please let me know before Labor Day if you do not wish to serve for the Fall 2011 schedule. I appreciate your dedication but understand when you want to move on to a new ministry. It’s much easier to honor your request if you let me know prior to the date I begin to type the schedule. Call or send an email with any changes.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION:     As you may have noticed, we are no longer referred to as Eucharistic Ministers, but Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, as all non-clergy Eucharistic ministers are called. Wear your new title with pride! We will be commissioned the weekend of June 25-26 to coincide with the observance of the Body and Blood of Christ.  A reminder: please do not remove your cup or bowl from the altar, wait for Father to give it to you. If you are a cup minister please consume what is left in your glass discreetly at your station, do not leave it for the deacon to consume. Be aware that some people will come to you for a blessing, with arms folded across their chest. A touch or the sign of the cross on the forehead is fine. We also have a few parishioners who only receive the cup. Serve all who approach you.

AND FINALLY…    Please refer to your schedule for your weekly Mass assignments. Remember, you can always go to our website and download your schedule. Save the roster so you can find a substitute in case you cannot be present. If you have an email address change please notify me so we can communicate more efficiently!  The Fall Schedule will cover October 2011 through January, 2012, including Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Deadline for all requests will be at 9am on MONDAY, September 5, 2011. Let me know if you want to change Mass times, take days off or resign from a ministry. All requests will be honored that are received by the deadline. Thank you for your devotion to our parish and our ministries!
