Spring 2010 Minister Newsletter…
Dear Fellow Ministers,
I hope you and your family had a very happy and holy holiday season. We are back in ordinary time for a few weeks, Lent will begin with Ash Wednesday on February 17th. Palm Sunday is March 28th and Easter is April 4th. Please sign up to help distribute ashes at the various services. See Deacon Terry for details! New minister training will be held on Saturday, March 20th in the Main Church. 9am for our new Eucharistic Ministers and 10am for our new Lectors. Send a friend or come yourself for a refresher course.
LECTOR NEWS...
Thanks to all who volunteered to read for our Christmas and New Years Masses! Thank you in advance to our 10am Ministers who have been assigned to read in the Ministry Center for Palm Sunday and Easter.
Fr. Jerry asks that when you step up to the ambo please make yourself comfortable with the book and RIGHT BEFORE you begin to read please adjust the microphone. Many lectors are not speaking directly into the microphone and the folks in the back of Church cannot hear what is being read. Makes sure it lines up with your mouth. One other comment from Deacon Terry: When you introduce your reading, “A reading from…” please pronounce the word “A” as a soft a, as in “ahhhh”, not a hard “A”. Confused? Ask myself or Deacon Terry and we’ll demonstrate.
ALTAR SERVERS...
Please sign in when you serve at Mass. This is the only way we know who shows up. Since we have so few servers at 7am Mass I can now only schedule one server per week at this Mass. Please let me know if your family would be willing to attend 7am once a month so we could schedule two servers. If you decide you don’t want to be an altar server anymore please let me know. I appreciate your dedication but understand when you want to move on to a new ministry. Call or send an email with any changes.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS...
A gentle reminder: please do not remove your cup or bowl from the altar, wait for Father to give it to you! Fr. Jerry also asks you to report to your assigned station as soon as you have been given your vessel. Begin the distribution as soon as both ministers are present at the station. If you are a bowl minister please return your bowl to the altar and place it on the white cloth. If you are a cup minister please consume what is left in your glass discreetly at your station. PLEASE do not drink from your cup as you walk up to the altar or stand on the altar and finish the Precious Blood. Thanks!
MASS COORDINATORS…
The Priests appreciate all you do to set up for Mass in such a reliable way! Please go “light” on the wine this winter. Only fill the cups about 1/4 full. We have a lot left over at most masses and the deacons are concerned.
We could use more help setting up at the 8:30 and 10:30 Masses, so please look for folks who always arrive a bit early and might want to help. Call or email me with the individual’s name and your good deed has been done!
AND FINALLY…..
Please refer to your schedule for your weekly Mass assignments. Remember, you can always check the weekly Bulletin or go to our website and download your schedule. Save the roster so you can find a substitute in case you cannot be present. If you have an email address and did not receive this schedule by email please notify me so we can print less copies of the schedule and you can get updates in a more timely fashion.
The Summer Schedule will cover June through September. Deadline for all requests will be at 9am on MONDAY, May 4, 2010. Let me know if you want to change Mass times, take days off or resign from a ministry. All requests will be honored that are received by the deadline.
God Bless you all!
