Student-Athlete's Code

 


Participation

  • Student-athletes must read the Athletic Participation Agreeement established by the SIS Athletic Board, then sign and return it to the Athletic Director prior to the start of a sport.  Failure to do so will detain the student-athlete from participating in the specified sporting activity (practices and games).
     
  • To participate in any sport, a student-athlete must present a Legal Release signed by a parent/guardian and a Medical Information and Emergency Card.  Failure to do so will detain the student-athlete from participating in the specified sporting activity (practices and games).
     
  • Physicals for all student-athletes are required.  Student-athletes' physical in Grade 5 are State mandated and therefore, acceptable.
     
  • In addition to the rules and eligibility requirements of the school, all student-athletes will be bound by league rules regarding age, grade level, etc.
     

Uniforms and Equipment

  • Student-athletes will be issued uniforms/equipment upon payment of the athletic fees.  Fee listing accompanies registration notice.
     
  • Student-athletes are responsible for the team uniforms and equipment issued to them for use during the appropriate season.  They must be returned within the two weeks of the end of the season or pay the replacement value of the uniform and/or equipment.  A $.25/day fee will be applied for uniforms not returned in a timely manner.
     
  • All equipment issued and used for the Athletic Program is the property of the St. Isidore School.  Each student-athlete is issued a uniform and becomes responsible for the care and cleaning of it.  Proper washing instructions must be followed.  Uniforms may be worn for school sanctioned games only.  No uniforms should be used for practice session or casual wear.
     
  • Each student-athlete is responsible for the loss of a uniform or damage other than normal wear.  Drawstrings should not be removed or cut.  A charge will be assessed for any equipment that is damaged, lost or destroyed because of misues, abuse or neglect of the student-athlete.
     

Jewelry, Hair and Glasses/Contacts

  • No student-athlete shall wear rings, bracelets (wrist or ankle), neck chains or earring during any practice, game, race or meet.  Pierced earrings are not allowed to be covered by Band-Aids or tape, but must be removed.  If earrings are not removed, officials will deny entry into games, matches or meets.
     
  • Girls with hair long enough to be put into a ponytail are encouraged to do so.  Hair must be held in place using something of a soft nature.  Metal or plastic headbands, barrettes, bobbie pins or clips are not allowed.  Beading of the hair is not allowed and will have to be removed before entry into athletic competition.
     
  • No type of hat is allowed as a head covering during practice or play.
     
  • Any student wearing eyeglasses will supply their own strap to keep the glasses safely on their head.  Protective eyewear is encouraged.
  • Any student-athlete wearing contacts should have cleaning solution and a case available if the contacts need to be taken out.   


Gym Shoes

  • Gym shoes used for practices and games in basketball and volleyball shall be for gym use only, and shall not be used as street shoes.

 

 

About

St. Isidore was a farm hand. He was born near Madrid, Spain in 1070. He attended mass every morning at a Madrid church before he set out for work as a farm laborer.  Isidore and his wife vowed celibacy in gratitude for a miracle which saved their son from drowning in a well. They were known for their holiness and care of the poor. St. Isidore died May 15, 1130. He was canonized with other Spaniards - St. Ignatius Loyola, St. Francis Xavier, and St. Teresa of Avila on March 12, 1622.
